【缩写简介】 EAGLES is an initiative of the European Commission (EC). It was launched，in February 1993，within EC Directorate General XIII's Linguistic Research and Engineering programme，as project LRE-61-100. The aim of EAGLES is to accelerate the provision of standards for (1) very large-scale language resources (such as text corpora，computational lexicons and speech corpora); (2) means of manipulating such knowledge，via computational linguistic formalisms，mark-up languages and various software tools; and (3) means of assessing and evaluating resources，tools and products.
